At the corner of NW 21st and Irving, UD+P is taking on another project in Portland’s Historic Alphabet District, where active sidewalks and a vibrant blend of retail and residential have been the norm for decades. The new mixed-use building will add to the urban fabric with ground-floor retail and three floors of residential apartments. The project’s scale, design, and building materials will complement the neighborhood’s Old Portland-style houses, vintage apartment buildings, and modern condominiums.
Named in honor of the Scandinavian roots of the neighborhood and the Heritage Tree on the property, Álmr is a short walk from Trader Joe’s, the Pearl District, three outstanding city parks, dozens of bars and restaurants, and Providence Park–home of the Portland Timbers. The site is just blocks from two bus lines and the streetcar line, which runs to the Pearl District, downtown, Portland State University, and the South Waterfront.
